Master's Programs

Exercise Science

The Master of Science in Exercise Science program at UIndy provides two distinct areas of academic and experiential focus -- human performance and clinical exercise physiology. The human performance emphasis is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skill set for a career as a strength and conditioning practitioner across many diverse settings. The clinical exercise physiology emphasis will prepare you with the necessary knowledge and experiences to provide preventative and rehabilitative exercise programming for diverse clinical populations. You will gain in-depth knowledge and experiences for your chosen fields while also having the opportunity to complete an optional research thesis on a topic of your choice.

Athletic Training

Strengthen your knowledge of athletic training with this fast-paced program. Students gain hands-on clinical skills in multiple clinical placements. The program covers five semesters of clinical education both on and off campus at various clinical sites, such as local high schools, colleges and universities, outpatient clinics, and physician offices. AT classrooms feature treatment tables for practicing injury assessments and treatment modalities, and learning opportunities also take place in nursing simulation labs and the full suite of UIndy athletic facilities.

Sport Management

Turn your passion for sports into a career in sports management. Whether in or out of the classroom, students are challenged with case studies, group discussions, and professional development opportunities. Class topics address relevant and current issues affecting the administration of intercollegiate athletics programs, including compliance, ticket office management, and media relations. Learning experiences are further enhanced through career advice and interactions with athletics personnel at the institutional level, conference level, and the NCAA. Classes are predominately online, but meet in person once a month, on weeknights allowing students to maintain employment throughout the program.

  • Course Format: Hybrid course model lets you complete much of your coursework online while meeting face-to-face several times each semester. Students can choose to pursue either an accelerated, 12-month, curriculum plan or a standard, 21-month, curriculum plan.
Occupational Therapy

Looking to start a career in occupational therapy? This program is ideal for career-changers who already have a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution and want to continue working while attending one of the top-ranked OT schools in the nation. The program is also great for individuals who would like to work while pursuing a Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) degree. Classes take place on campus two days per week. An emphasis is placed on evidence-based practice.

Healthcare Administration (online only)

Make a difference with your education. The Master of Science in Healthcare Administration prepares students to plan, direct, and oversee medical care and services. Two concentrations are available. Long-term care management is suited for those looking to work as administrators in skilled health care facilities or assisted living and residential care facilities. Home and community-based care prepares students for positions in hospice organizations, home health care agencies, and a variety of other outpatient care centers.

Public Health

Acquire the professional knowledge and skills to enter the high-growth field of public health. The MPH is a professional degree program and combines academic preparation in current public health knowledge with planned, community-based projects embedded throughout the program, plus an intensive professional practice experience. This unique curriculum, with a concentration on health disparities, provides students the ability to practice essential skills for improving population health such as program planning, grant writing, culturally competent communication, and advocacy.

Aging Studies (online only)

You'll learn both basic theoretical knowledge and the practical skills necessary to promote a positive and holistic view of aging.

Doctoral Programs

Occupational Therapy

Looking to start a practice in occupational therapy? In this program, students evolve into innovative practitioners who are critical thinkers in the development of scholarship, integrating evidence and practice. Learning opportunities cultivate leaders with high standards of professionalism in existing and emerging practice areas. The program is taught in a traditional classroom setting, using a combination of lecture and hands-on lab coursework. Students graduate after three years of academic work which includes 24 weeks of full time fieldwork and a 14-week capstone placement.

Physical Therapy

Join the school of physical therapy that's ranked in the top 25 percent of PT programs by U.S. News & World Report — the UIndy Krannert School of Physical Therapy. DPT offers a traditional classroom and laboratory program that enables students to pursue their doctoral degree in one of two tracks: Research, in which a student participates in a faculty-designed research project, or Professional Development, which allows students to explore an area of practice or better understand an interdisciplinary team approach to care. DPT students also experience 39 weeks of full-time, supervised clinical practice.

Health Sciences (online only)

Work interprofessionally with students from multiple health-related professions to gain advanced knowledge and skills to positively impact health practices in today's complex societies. Graduates are prepared to serve as leaders, advocates, educators, and scholars in health science. After completing their coursework, students conduct a dissertation. Interested individuals must have at least two years experience in a health-related field.

Associate’s Programs

Physical Therapy Assistant

The PTA program at UIndy is a 62-credit hour program and is designed to be completed in two years. While not a graduate degree program, this associate's degree is for people who have a passion for helping other people. In addition to learning technical skills, you will also learn how to communicate effectively with patients and therapists, and that puts them one step closer to reaching their goals. This program provides you with a great point of entry into the field of physical therapy.

Health Professions Education (online only)

Do you have a graduate degree in healthcare but a desire to teach in academia? Being well-versed in the healthcare profession is not enough to make a great teacher. The Graduate Certificate in Health Professions Education (HPE) at the University of Indianapolis is designed to help practitioners make the transition to the classroom by providing a comprehensive program to prepare health professionals to successfully make the move from practice to the classroom.

Aging Studies (online only)

The Graduate Certificate in Aging Studies program is open to students who have a bachelor's degree or higher. The program is designed to meet the needs of professionals who have an interest in the aging population or who may currently work in the field of aging but would like to increase or formalize their knowledge. Credits earned in this Certificate program may be applied to the MS in Aging Studies degree and may be transferable to another graduate or post-professional program, plan of study, or curriculum. This Certificate may be combined with other UIndy graduate programs, allowing for shared credits, as a dual program.
